After two great seasons, one long but great season, two micro seasons and two multiclass crossover endurance event, we, as a community, have out grown our first home.
 
The Pak'Cafan community welcomed us with open arms, and allowed us to use their site. With Stocky as our ambassador, we quickly found our niche and got organized as a small but reputable and tight-knit sim racing community. None of this could have happened without the hospitality shown to us by Pak'Cafan and by our sole founding member. For this, we thank you wholeheartidly.
 
We have chosen to keep our PRD abbreviation in memory of our first home and if the need ever arises, will repay your hospitality with our own.

Again Sorry for the audio mixup, I may do a re-upload if I can figure out how to even out the audio as the frequencies seemed a bit to close to use a compressor. With that being said there will be stream tests for Heat 2 which will take a bit longer as we need to suss out Jayden's audio as well since he is using the live footage for the highlights on account of Synystr's most recent comment on the last broadcast.

 

On another note I may be looking to do the race interviews for the rest of the field in a completely different video altogether. The Podium interviews will remain in the same format after the race and will be shown with the race broadcast. This is just so that we can make the interviews a bit more interesting with more of a variety of questions. You can still opt into doing them right after the race or the following day if you wish since the only difference is on our end in how the whole thing is recorded/streamed. This is so that the people in our league can get some rest afterward since the race does happen to go a fair bit into the night and people live in different time zones with varying other commitments.  It also allows for a bit of creative freedom on our new editor Jayden whom I have locked in the basement solely for the purpose of making these videos.  

 

Good luck everyone and I shall catch you guys on Saturday for the stream! Keep up the great racing and try to make sure that Synystr doesn't make you all look silly again on the first lap casue we'll be watching! XD

I know maybe people had issues, but as this is my post, looking at the times and where Nesterowiz finished, and how close or battle was at lap 30, it looks like the two of us would have comfortable been fighting for 2nd/3rd spot, without Nesterowiz’s unfortunate tire change issue and my numerous incidents with LMP at the Porsche Curves.
 
Congratulations again to the guys on the podium and of course Static for the win in his division.  Pretty good showing all in all, lots of top 10 qualis and finishes, which just goes to demonstrate the quality of the guys racing it this league.

Handbrake / Sequential Shifter
 
I saw people selling these kits to make arcade joysticks on MercadoLivre (ebay equivalent)
the stick looked perfect to make a sequential shifter and rally style handbrake
 
The result was way better than I expect, and very cheap, R$30 for the stick and usb controller
 
It is screwed to a piece of wood and attached to the shifter using the mounting roles, it can still use the clamps to put on a desk

I used a cheap chinese usb joystick board to connect to the pc, it is recognized as a default usb joystick in windows
Some arcade kits come with a board that you don't need to solder, just plug the wires
Also this type of board can be used to make button boxes

STARTING PROCEDURE

Rolling Start
Our rolling start system utilizes a completely manual procedure, featuring a pace lap:


  • When the race starts, cars are to remain on the grid and wait for instructions. Once the lead car is instructed to move off, the rest of the field follows in single file formation.
  • At a pre-determined point on the track (usually on approach to the final corner) the race directors will instruct all drivers to make note of their position and to form up in double file formation.
  • The side of the track that the pole sitter will form up on will be determined after qualification has concluded and announced by the pole sitter.
  • Once the leader crosses the start/finish line he must announce "Green Green Green" clearly over teamspeak.
  • When "Green Green Green" is called by the leader all drivers may accelerate and also are allowed to overtake as the race officially begins.​​

 

 

Important Notes for the Rolling start

The pace of the lead car will be dictated by the race directors before the start of the race. All the other cars must follow and maintain a sensible gap between each other.

During the formation lap you are allowed to steer left/right to warm up your tires and perform brake checks to warm up your brakes. ( plz. be aware of your position as not to make contact with other drivers)

If a car stalls on the grid in the beginning of the pace lap the car behind must give them a chance to get started. Leaving the grid is a slow process and a small delay is easily caught up in the first few corners.

If you spin during the warm up procedure you must wait off the track until the whole field has come through and rejoin at the back. There are no exceptions to this rule.

It is very important that you take note of your position when instructed to by the race directors and not assume that it hasn’t changed from the start of the race or qualifying. If a car has spun, disconnected or had to retire the positions will change and the double file formation must be based on the correct and up-to-date positions.

Driving standards & Track limits

First off I'l make an assumption and say that all of us are here to have fun and enjoy sim racing. Thus The rules of this league are in place to help aid in doing so in a fair but also not too serious manner.

Everyone here at PRD wants you to race fairly and to the best of your abilities while having as much fun as possible. Anything less is unacceptable :)

Yield Rule
If any track position is gained illegally, either via contact (i.e. Nudging a driver from behind and taking the place) or cutting the track, we expect you to give that position back as soon as it is possible to do so. This applies even to lapped traffic. It's good sportsmanship which is not only expected but also required.

Blocking
Drivers may conduct one tactical manoeuvre to dictate the line of the opposing driver while defending a position. This manoeuvre must be conducted with sufficient time and distance so as not to :

a. Initiate any contact with the opposing driver
b. Force the opposing driver to take evasive action to avoid contact
c. Impede the immediate forward progress of the opposing driver

 

Mandatory Pit rule

It is mandatory to pit at least one time when the pit window opens 1/3rd through the race. The exact lap will be provided in the track specific briefing and also before the pace lap begins. Pit lane is always open, so in the case that you sustain damage or need to change tires as a result of rain moving in you may do so. However this pit will not count towards your mandatory pit stop meaning that you will have to pit again. During your mandatory pit stop you MUST take tires. You are not required to take fuel.

 

Track Rejoins

If you leave the track boundaries do not blindly rejoin the track without regard for oncoming traffic. Before you rejoin the track, check visually and via trackmap that the coast is clear. If there is oncoming traffic do not obstruct the racing line or otherwise cause an incident as a result of poorly timing your rejoin. If need be just wait. Better safe than possibly ruin another drivers race. 

Race Incidents & Accidents
If you are involved in an incident, we ask that you leave discussions of the incident until after the race has concluded. Discussing incidents mid-race is very distracting for other drivers. You will have the opportunity to talk with any drivers involved after the race. If you cannot resolve an issue please talk with another PRD member or post any grievance in the post race incident discussion thread.


Track Limits

Members of Pak'Cafan Racing Division are expected to keep at least two wheels on the racing surface at all times. For all events the track limit is defined by the white line bordering the track and do not include any curbing which lies outside of this line. This rule is in effect at all times including corner exits. If there are alterations to this as a result of a track specific issue, It will be listed below in the track specific briefing.

We are not reviewing race footage unless absolutely necessary, therefore track limits are self policing. We expect you to be honest. If you gain time via a track cut we expect you to let off the throttle and give that time back. We understand that mistakes happen and everyone will at one time or another find themselves violating track limits due to misjudgment. These types of driver errors are acceptable and, by and large, expected. We will however not tolerate repeated or deliberate instances of track limit violations.
If you see anyone repeatedly violating track limits it will be acceptable for you to politely remind them via teamspeak to correct their driving. If this advice is not heeded you will be made aware of your position at the back of the grid in the fallowing race.

Teamspeak Etiquette

 

If you can, please use push to talk as to avoid unwanted broadcasting. If you can't, adjust your settings so it does not pick up wheel sounds or any other unwanted noise. 

 

We encourage communication during races. However be aware that too much chatter during races can be really distracting, so please keep it to race essential information. 

 

During qualification and also during the pace lap keep chat to an absolute minimum.

 

It nearly goes without saying that Inflammatory language and or flaming or disrespecting other drivers is strictly forbidden. Our league runs pretty loose on the language part of this, but I would like to personally request that this be toned down a bit. It's just not necessary. If you don't like something, like a car for example say ex: I don't like this car, NOT ex: I !@#ing hate this car :)

FOUND IT! Looks like the biggest problem i had was a slip when i setup up the server on my second pc, Added an extra 0 to the event logging number, so i was trying to get 10X more data then it should have been (last nights race used as much download/upload as all previous server races combined), which significantly upped the bandwidth requirements to beyond what my connection could handle. Fixed back to what was working well before.

Starts: We will be using a user controlled rolling start.  One lap formation lap controlled by the pole position racer.  This lap will count against total race distance.  

Form into a single file line in position off the line and continue around the track at 50 mph or 80 kph.  Speed is controlled by the pole position, ever other racer keep within 1-3 car lengths from the car in front of you.

With 2 turns or more left the call will be made to form into double file, side by side, either odds on the right, evens on the left, or vice versa.  It is up to pole position to call what side of the track he wants to start on depending on the track.

 

If someone has an incident during the formation lap (i.e. off track spin, collision resulting in a spin) you must rejoin the grid at the end of the line and start from the back.  No exceptions.

 

Driving Standards and Etiquette:

We will be using TeamSpeak and we ask that you use the push to talk feature to ensure minimal disruption to other drivers during race and qualifying sessions - talking can be quite distracting so please be respectful of your fellow racers. You may talk freely during practice sessions but please remain respectful of others.

 

We encourage close clean racing. Please be respectful of other drivers and exercise caution with reckless moves and over ambitious late braking/dive bombing.

 

As mentioned, calling your position when alongside another driver is encouraged to help reduce incidents and increase awareness.

 

You may defend your position, but you are allowed only ONE move to do so, and it must be done safely. Weaving to block another driver will result in penalties.

 

If you take out another driver or gain a position as a result of making contact, that position must be returned as soon as possible or penalties will be applied.

Remember: It's on the chasing driver to make the overtake safely. That tempting gap could well have closed by the time you get there.

 

 

Track Limits:

We would like everyone to be a gentlemen and not cut tracks. 

All the usual rules apply to extending the track limits, corner cutting and other means of gaining an unfair advantage. The track limits are defined by the solid white line - at all times 2 wheels must remain on the circuit unless it is not possible to do so - avoiding an incident for example. If battling with another racer and a position is gained by extending the track limits, it must be returned immediately.

 

FIA regulations regarding track limits:

During practice and the race, drivers may use only the track and must at all times observe the provisions of the Code relating to driving behavior on circuits.

Drivers must make every reasonable effort to use the track at all times and may not deliberately leave the track without a justifiable reason.

Drivers will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with it and, for the avoidance of doubt, any white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the curbs are not.

Should a car leave the track the driver may re-join, however, this may only be done when it is safe to do so and without gaining any lasting advantage. At the absolute discretion of the race director a driver may be given the opportunity to give back the whole of any advantage he gained by leaving the track.

 

If you feel you have lost a position due to another racer gaining an unfair advantage (causing a collision or extending the track limits) please submit a claim within 24hrs of the race in Pak'Cafan forum.

 

 

IMPORTANT:

If you sustain damage during the course of a race you may drive back to the pits for repairs. This must be done under the power of your own car. 

 

You may use the 'ESC' and 'Back to Pit' option during Practice and Qualifying sessions only, but must bring the car to a standstill in a safe position prior to doing so.

 

Mandatory pit stops are in effect, you must change your tires after the first 3rd of the race. Fuel load is totally up to you. No Pit stops before the first 3rd of race distance. IF damage is taken before this time, you may pit, this pit does not count for your mandatory pit stop.  Which will still have to take place after the first 3rd of race distance

 

 

WEATHER:

Weather for races will be broken in 3 weather events over the 45 minute race(15-15-15).  Weather events will be determined using real world weather from track locations on the day of the race over a 9 hour period.  Broken into 3 hour slots, 3 weather events will be created.  Race weather will change between Wednesday and Saturday races to keep everyone on their toes.  Once we get a website where our data will be pulled from we will post it in the forum so people can watch the forecast if they would like.

Weather events will be set approximately 3 hours before the race.

 

 

Timing and Scoring:

A dedicated server has been created for our races.  We will be using data from the dedicated server to post results at http://simresults.net .  This site is very useful and it will show a lot of cool information.  Best lap, best sector times, consistency, and race incidents.  Race incidents will be helpful in monitoring cut tracks and collisions.

 

2 races a week, Best result goes towards points for that week

 

6 races for the season, 1 throw away race.  Just in case you miss a race or you have a DNF.  5 best results count towards

championship.

 

Tiebreaks: In the event of a final tie in the championship, then the first tiebreaker would be the amount of wins each player racked up. If this number is also equal, then the next tiebreaker would be the amount of second place finishes each driver has made during the championship. If this still remains a tie, then the tiebreakers change to count the amount of finishes in third position, and so on.

 

Scoring:

1st - 30

2nd - 25

3rd - 21

4th - 18

5th - 16

6th - 15

7th - 14

8th - 13

9th - 12

10th - 11

11th - 10

12th - 9

13th - 8

14th - 7

15th - 6

16th - 5

17th - 4

18th - 3

19th - 2

20th - 1

 

You must finish 75% of a race to be awarded points.

Thank you very much man. I know I'm a pain in the butt sometimes but I really do appreciate this group that we have, and the high level of racing that we do together.

From the discussions and debates to setup sharing to the overall feel, this community has been fantastic and is entirely the reason why I have modified my lifestyle to have Wednesday and Saturday nights available.

Despite the job, the new baby, and the college classes, Wednesday and Saturday nights are for US.

Kind of feel like I should apologize for the race last night to Static and IGC. Especially at the start was really idiotic and I still feel really bad about it. Most of my overtakes were really reckless as well to IGC and almost ruined his race as well. Might have been exhausted due to the fact I just got back from Las Vegas celebrating my 21st birthday just a couple of hours before the race. Still no real excuse for the actions on the track. So I am sorry.

Here is the skin Pack, tested with Syn; If you leave all the normal liveries in the list and add the custom ones, anyone who uses a normal livery will be shown correctly to those with the skin pack. (they will just see the default cars, but prevents weird things like people showing up in someone else's car)

Happy 4th of July to the yanks among us.  I am sure some of you saw the pretty nice F1 race yesterday, including the great Mercedes drama on the last lap.  Did you also see they did a feature race in the M1 Procars!
